Dive into the heart of Morocco on an epic 8-day trip! We’ll start in the buzzing streets of Marrakech and end on the cool coast of Casablanca. Along the way, you’ll explore ancient cities, ride a camel across the Sahara, and discover stunning Berber fortresses. This tour is your ticket to an authentic Moroccan adventure that perfectly balances thrill and discovery.
Your grand tour of Morocco starts in Marrakech with a scenic drive into the towering High Atlas Mountains. Our route takes us over the stunning Tizi n’Tichka Pass, where we’ll stop to capture incredible panoramic photos. We then descend to the world-renowned Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified clay city and UNESCO World Heritage site famously featured in films like Gladiator. After lunch, our path continues through Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara, and along the picturesque Rose Valley before we settle in for the night in Boumalne Dades.
After breakfast, we delve further into Morocco’s stunning southern landscapes. Our first major stop is the Todra Gorge, a massive canyon with sheer, 300-meter-high rock walls. Take a walk along the riverbed to truly grasp its grand scale. From there, we press on towards the edge of the desert. Upon reaching Merzouga, you will meet your camel guide and begin a memorable trek into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. As the sun sets over the sand sea, you’ll arrive at your desert camp for an unforgettable evening of Berber hospitality, music, and stargazing.
Wake up early to witness the spectacular sight of the sunrise illuminating the Sahara dunes. Following breakfast at the camp, our journey turns northward. We’ll travel along the lush Ziz Valley, a vast palm oasis that creates a stark, beautiful contrast with the arid surroundings. The route then climbs into the Middle Atlas Mountains, where we’ll stop in Midelt for lunch. Driving through the cedar forests near Azrou, keep an eye out for the native Barbary apes. After passing through Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” we will arrive in the historic imperial city of Fes to check into your traditional riad.
Today, we transition from the ancient imperial capital of Fes to the tranquil beauty of the Rif Mountains. Our destination is Chefchaouen, Morocco’s celebrated ‘Blue Pearl’. The drive itself is a scenic pleasure, passing through verdant hills and charming local villages. Upon arrival in the afternoon, we will check into our riad. The remainder of the day is yours to wander freely through the city’s famously blue-painted streets and alleys, discovering its unique and calming atmosphere at your own pace.
Savor a final morning in the blue city before we set off towards the northern coast. Our route takes us to Tetouan, known as the ‘White Dove’ for its brilliant white buildings. Here, you’ll discover a remarkable blend of Spanish and Moorish culture within its UNESCO-protected medina. We then complete our drive to Tangier, the legendary port city that bridges Africa and Europe at the Strait of Gibraltar. Once settled, you’ll have the evening free to start exploring this city of artists, spies, and international intrigue.
This morning, our journey follows the beautiful Atlantic coast southward to the charming, art-infused town of Asilah. This fortified seaside town is celebrated for its pristine, white-walled medina, which serves as a canvas for colorful murals painted by international artists. Spend the afternoon exploring the historic ramparts, browsing artisan shops, and absorbing the relaxed, creative vibe of this coastal gem before checking into your accommodation.
We continue our drive along the coast today, heading to Rabat, the modern capital of Morocco. An afternoon guided tour will reveal the city’s most important sites. You will see the striking Hassan Tower, the unfinished minaret of a medieval mosque, and the nearby Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a masterpiece of modern Alaouite dynasty architecture. This tour offers a fascinating look at Rabat’s mix of historical significance and contemporary elegance before you retire to your hotel.
On the final day of your tour, we make the short coastal journey to Casablanca. Our main stop will be an exterior visit to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, an architectural marvel and one of the largest mosques in the world, dramatically positioned on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. After taking in its impressive scale and intricate details, your unforgettable 8-day Moroccan adventure concludes with a transfer to your hotel or the airport for your flight home.
