This immersive 6-day tour offers a spectacular journey through Morocco’s diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage. From the modern coastal capitals and the iconic blue streets of Chefchaouen to the ancient medina of Fes and the breathtaking expanse of the Sahara Desert, this itinerary is designed to showcase the very best of northern and central Morocco. You will experience the vibrant history, stunning natural wonders, and warm hospitality that define this incredible country, culminating in a dramatic crossing of the Atlas Mountains to the vibrant city of Marrakech.
After collection from Casablanca airport or your hotel, you will visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque. The journey then heads north to the capital, Rabat, to explore the historic Hassan Tower and the serene Kasbah of the Udayas. Finally, we ascend into the Rif Mountains to the mesmerizing “Blue City” of Chefchaouen, where you will settle into your Riad for an overnight stay.
Enjoy a morning to immerse yourself in the tranquil, photogenic beauty of Chefchaouen. Wander its vibrant blue medina and soak in the relaxed atmosphere. After lunch, we embark on a scenic drive south, arriving by evening in the ancient imperial city of Fes, the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco, for your overnight stay.
Following breakfast, a local guide will lead you into Fes el-Bali, the ancient walled Medina and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your tour winds through its maze-like alleys to the Royal Palace gates, the historic Mellah (Jewish Quarter), and the intricate architecture of the Al-Attarine Madrasa. You will also view the iconic Chouara Tannery from a terrace and explore the vibrant souks before returning to your Riad.
The journey heads south toward the Sahara Desert. You will travel through Ifrane, known as “Morocco’s Switzerland,” and stop in the Cedar Forest to see wild Barbary macaque monkeys. The landscape transforms as we descend through the vast Ziz Valley oasis. In Merzouga, a camel trek carries you into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes for a breathtaking sunset. Your night is spent in a luxury desert camp with dinner and music under the stars.
Wake up to a spectacular desert sunrise. After returning to Merzouga, we journey west, potentially stopping at Rissani’s traditional market. We then explore the stunning Todra Gorge, walking between its towering canyon walls. The day ends amidst the dramatic rock formations of the Dades Valley, known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs,” for your overnight stay.
Our final day follows the scenic “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” We visit Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” and the legendary Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site and famed film location. After lunch, we embark on the spectacular drive across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, arriving in Marrakech by late afternoon to conclude your journey.
