Your desert adventure begins with a morning departure from your Fes hotel, journeying south into the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. We’ll pause in Ifrane, a unique town known as “Morocco’s Switzerland,” before continuing to the famous cedar forests of Azrou to spot wild Barbary macaques. After a lunch break in Midelt, the route descends through the stunning Ziz Valley, where you’ll stop to admire a panoramic view of its lush palm oasis. Upon arriving at the edge of the impressive Erg Chebbi dunes, you will trade your vehicle for a camel and begin a memorable trek into the Sahara to witness a spectacular sunset. Your destination is a traditional Berber desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and an evening of music under a vast, star-filled sky.
An early start is rewarded with the breathtaking sight of a desert sunrise over the dunes. Following breakfast at the camp, you will return by camel or 4WD to the village to meet your driver. If it’s a market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday), we’ll visit the bustling traditional market in Rissani for a glimpse into local commerce. The journey then continues to our next destination: the magnificent Todra Gorge. Here, you can take a short walk through the towering canyon to soak in the dramatic scenery. After lunch, we will travel to the picturesque Dades Valley for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast in the Dades Valley, you will begin your scenic journey back to Fes. Your route will guide you through the lush Ziz Valley and across the majestic Middle Atlas Mountains, with a planned stop for lunch in Midelt. The final leg of your drive takes you back through the cedar forests of Azrou and the charming town of Ifrane. You will arrive in Fes by evening, where your incredible desert adventure comes to a close with a drop-off at your accommodation.
