Escape the city and experience the raw beauty of the Sahara on this 3-day adventure from Marrakech. Your journey includes a thrilling camel ride across the legendary Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sun dip below the horizon. Spend a magical night in a luxury desert camp, where you can immerse yourself in the vast silence of the desert under a sky blanketed with stars. Prepare for an expedition that will stay with you forever.
Your adventure begins with a 7:00 AM departure from Marrakech, ascending into the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass. We’ll pause at a local argan oil cooperative to see Berber women skillfully crafting this precious oil. Next, we’ll delve into history at the iconic Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed fortified village that has served as a backdrop for films like Gladiator. After lunch, we continue through Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” before arriving in the stunning Dades Valley. As the sun sets, watch the unique “Monkey Fingers” rock formations glow, then settle in for dinner and an overnight stay at a cozy guesthouse with incredible valley views.
After breakfast, our path leads to the magnificent Todgha Gorge, a massive canyon where you can walk between 300-meter-high cliffs. To experience true local culture, we’ll visit a Berber family for a traditional mint tea. From there, we journey to Merzouga, the threshold of the Sahara. Here, you will swap your vehicle for a camel and embark on an unforgettable trek into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes as the sun begins to set. You’ll arrive at your luxury desert camp for a traditional tagine dinner, followed by an evening of Berber music around a campfire, all beneath a brilliant canopy of desert stars.
An early start is rewarded with the magical spectacle of sunrise painting the Sahara dunes. Following a hearty breakfast, you’ll return to Merzouga village by either camel or a comfortable 4×4. Our scenic return journey to Marrakech takes us alongside the Draa River, Morocco’s longest river, tracing a path through a stunning valley of lush palm groves. After stopping for photos and lunch in Ouarzazate, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains one last time. Your unforgettable desert tour concludes in the evening with a drop-off at your accommodation in Marrakech.
